Last month my boyfriend Josh and I were feeling bored and restless of being stuck in Preston with nothing to do, this, combined with my love of scrolling through groupon looking at deals, resulted in us deciding to book a weekend away. We began with big ideas, wanting to jet off to big cites in Europe, however after checking our bank balances we ended up a little closer to home. The Lake District.

We decided on one night’s stay in a lovely hotel in Bowness on Windermere that looked out onto Lake Windermere. When we arrived we were treated to a champagne afternoon tea, with the nicest scones I've ever tasted. We sat outside in the sun sipping champagne, and munching on scones whilst debating which goes on first, the jam or the cream. (I say jam!)
After finishing our scones, champagne and green tea we headed off to another little village further up the lake where we had booked a chocolate making workshop. In a cute little shop Josh and I sat at a bench, looking fetching in our aprons and concentrating hard on making our little box of chocolates. After filling in the moulds with chocolate, adding the filling, waiting for them to set and popping them out of their moulds, they were ready to decorate. Not being a hugely creative person my decorations were simplistic, but I like to think they were classy. Other than the one chocolate that broke as it was coming out of the mould, in a slight annoyance but also with a giggle, I wrote a slightly naughty word on it (Im clearly still a child), and gave this to Josh so it didn't ruin my box!

We were nothing short of lucky in the weather we had, with blue skies and the sun shining the whole time we were there. This meant for some beautiful photos, which I can’t claim as they were taken by Josh, although I did get a few nice shots on my iphone, as well as some obligatory selfies!
Lake Side Selfie
With the sun shining, Josh managed to take some lovely photos, although I had to stop him taking so many of the ducks! He loves photographing them for some reason. I also forced him to self timer some photos of the two of us together, as I wanted something nicer than just a selfie.
Josh & Me
We decided to go for a walk before our dinner, and found a little area where Josh took some photos of the lake as it was getting darker. Unfortunately the sun went behind the hills before it properly set, but I still think the photos are beautiful. It was so nice to be in such a calm and peaceful place and just look out at the water and the hills.

Our dinner in the hotel was so lovely, and we felt slightly out of place in such a posh place, trying not to laugh too loud, or guessing what certain things were on the menu. The food was amazing and I wished I'd got some photos of it, but we didn't think to. The rest of the evening was spent snuggled up in the comfiest bed watching a programme about strippers, (I don't even know) and eating the chocolates we made, which were delicious.
The next day we checked out and drove home. On our way home we passed by a place designated for taking photos, it was looking down over the lake and across the hills and was such a nice view I made Josh take some photos, and also got a cheeky shot of him.

We had such a lovely weekend being together and enjoying the views of the lake and the hills. I'd definitely recommend the Lake District for anyone who wants to explore a bit, theres also lots of walks to be done and other outdoors activities, we just didn't have the time for it. I must admit, I can't imagine having enjoyed it as much if it had been pouring down with rain, so Im so happy we got lucky with the weather.
Have you ever been to the Lake District? Is if somewhere you'd like to visit?
