The Honest Student Life Outfit

Jumper: Primark
 PJ Bottoms: Primark
Christmas Socks: Primark
Blanket: John Lewis
Cat Wheat Bag: New Look
Love Bug Mug: Amazon
Salted Caramel Green Tea: Twinings

Third year of Uni is tough. Dissertations take up a lot of time and then theres all your other modules on top of that! So its safe to say I've spent a lot of time in my room attempting to do all this work, and because of that I figured I'd be honest and show you a variation of what Im wearing most days.

Comfy clothes are necessary when you're spending the day studying, and if you're not leaving the house then anything other than pyjamas is just pointless. These bottoms are from Primark, my favourite place to get comfy pjs, and to add some festivity into my day of researching sexual violence during wartime (such a cheery dissertation topic) I usually add a pair of Christmas socks as I have a slight obsession with them. This fluffy jumper is also from Primark and it's so cosy and warm and the perfect addition to a cosy outfit.

My room is basically a freezer between the hours of 10 and 5 when we can't afford to put the heating on, so keeping warm is vital, I usually wrap myself up in this John Lewis blanket and if it gets really cold I might end up under my duvet, but I try not to do this as it usually results in an impromptu nap. I've come up with a few other ways to keep myself warm and cosy, and this cat wheat bag from New Look is one of my favourites, you put it in the microwave for a few minutes and it heats up and stays warm for ages, I personally think it's better than a hot water bottle and a lot cuter! A warm drink is also compulsory during studying, my favourite is this salted caramel green tea from Twinings which I mentioned in my monthly favourites as it tastes amazing! I always have it in my favourite mug as well, Josh brought me this Love Bug mug from the museum when we visited York over the summer.

Variations on this outfit include my UCLAN hoodie, or thick fluffy socks, sometimes if it's really cold I'll put on gloves so I can feel my hands while Im typing. Occasionally I have to resort to a mini dance party by myself to warm myself up a bit! The joys of being a student.

What's your go to outfit for keeping warm and cosy? If you're a student do you spend a lot of time in your PJS like me?

  1. Basically my life in a blog post! I mainly use fingerless gloves when I have a late night essay writing session, and I definitely agree with the mini dance party!
    Good luck with your dissertations!

  2. Haha when I was at uni I lived in my UCLAN hoodie and either primark pajama bottoms or mens joggers.I spent most of my days like that and then spent my money on nice outfits for nights out.

  5. Totally agree, wheat bags which you can microwave are the best! I relied a lot on my electric blanket when I was studying as it gets so cold! Hope the studies go well xx

  6. Oh, I do not miss the days of having no heating between 10-5! It's so nice to be back in rez this year where I can have my heating on 25 degrees all day, every day without shame!
I'm usually in leggings, a hoodie and fluffy socks. My housemates come into my room and see me with my hood up and are like 'just turn your heating up?!' because old habits die hard.
Good luck with your dissertation work! Fortunately I don't have to touch it till next year (yay for the MChem!) but instead I have 2 lab reports a week and random quizzes and 4 problem sets every two weeks so it's not exactly a walk in the park either. Dammit 3rd year!

  7. I've graduated college and now work a 9-5 job, but after work I like to change into comfy workout clothes- yoga pants, tank top (I live in San Diego so it's never that cold), messy bun, etc. Great post!

  9. This is SO true! And it's so nice to see an honest outfit post - bloggers aren't looking stylish and sophisticated 24/7! My go-to studying clothes are leggings and a hoodie, and a cup of tea is essential (and usually a form of procrastination!)
Hope 3rd year isn't TOO horrific for you! I've got it all to come next year! x
