What's In My Hand Luggage
7 January 2015
You may or may not know that I am currently on a short holiday to Berlin with Josh! We've gone for 4 days and we're hopefully having a wonderful time (I've written this before we left)! We decided to pay a bit extra to put luggage in the hold as I knew I wouldn't be able to fit everything I needed in a cabin size suitcase, and after packing and filling my big suitcase it's obvious we made the best decision! Most of the things I need are in my main luggage meaning my hand luggage is just the bits and bobs I need for the plane and airport.
First up is the bag I'll be using for my hand luggage. This handbag is from Accessorize over a year ago and I've loved it since the moment I set eyes on it, I love the colour and the gold detailing, it's lasted ages with very little signs of ware so for me it was definitely worth it's price (£50!). It's a great size for travelling as it fits everything in, it's also got a long strap so I can have it over my shoulder or across my body if I wanted, which is perfect.
Probably the most important item when travelling is your passport, I love keeping mine in a passport case, although they always make me take it off anyway. I got this case as a gift when I left my job at John Lewis to travel to Australia. Another essential is obviously my purse, filled with Euros, a credit cards for emergencies, (or duty free!) and my EHIC card which is something to do with health insurance within the EU, not totally sure. My iphone is obviously coming with me as well. Although I'm heading to Berlin in January I'm still taking sunnies because just because it's cold doesn't mean it can't be sunny!
Earphones are again a must for hand luggage, although Im sure me and Josh will chat, it's always nice to have the option of listening to music, especially if you want a nap. These fluffy earmuffs I got as a Christmas present from my grandparents, they're so cosy and warm and will keep my ears toasty when I don't want to wear a hat. They also fold up so don't take up too much room in my bag. The notebook is from paper chase, and It's in my hand luggage because I'm slightly obsessed with using it to write to do lists and notes, and you never know when you're going to need to write something down!
Our flight is early morning, meaning we're getting up very early and therefore I don't plan on wearing much make up, however my Soap & Glory One Heck Of a Blot has it's place very firmly in my bag. The best powder I've ever used it takes me from shiny to matte so easily and doesn't leave me looking cakey, great for if I just feel I need freshening up a bit.
This cute little make up bag was another Christmas present and it's the perfect size to just have in my bag. I like to keep all my little bits and bobs in here like plasters, nail files and chewing gum. I also make sure to have a little supply of pills when I'm flying, that includes the pills I have to take daily, so that if my suitcase tragically gets misplaced I've still got my medication with me. I also like to make sure I've got a supply of paracetamol in case of headaches. This mini size impulse spray is there for when I need to smell a bit fresher, and although impulse reminds me of middle school, the scents are actually very nice and it's useful to have.
I'm also taking with me this Revlon Colourstay concealer so I can make myself look slightly more presentable. My trusty Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in Nudist is also in the hand luggage. It's a perfect nude gloss that isn't sticky and gives a lovely shine and feels moisturising, which I always feel I need when Im stuck in a plane. Obviously these items will have to be put into a clear sealed bag when I go through security.
My last hand luggage items are my kindle, which I've loaded with books, giving me something to read in the airport or on the plane. The final item is this Berlin travel guide, I love having a travel guide when I visit places, it gets you excited as you can read up about all the places you want to visit, and also find out about places you'd never heard of but that might be amazing.
Have you ever been to Berlin? Whats your hand luggage staple? Reckon I've missed anything out, or taken something I really don't need? Let me know in the comments.
