Keeping Healthy In Winter

About two weeks ago I caught a cold. One of those horrible colds where your whole body just seems to break down, I felt like I couldn't do anything and I basically spent a week in bed. I was downing cough syrup from the bottle, probably drinking far too much lemsip and hunting through my housemates cupboards for some chicken soup to steal. My head hurt to think, my throat was so sore and I couldn't sleep because every time I'd lie down I was hit with a serious coughing fit, that I'm sure my housemates and neighbours really loved!

Since I've come out the other end of the nightmare of a cold and I'm feeling better, I've decided I need to try and keep myself healthy and keep any more horrible colds away! So I've put together a few bits of advice on keeping healthy in the winter when everyone seems to be sneezing and coughing in your direction.

Keeping Healthy In Winter Bimuno Immunaid
Drink Water
We all know drinking water is important, but we're still not drinking enough of it. Not only does it keep you hydrated and lessens the chance of headaches from dehydration, it also helps improve your immune system which is important in fighting off illnesses. In general drinking water is great for you, and it will definitely make you feel healthier than coffee or coke.

Eat Breakfast
It's the most important meal of the day, and eating a healthy breakfast every morning is going to keep you healthy. It boosts your energy and if it's a healthy option like porridge it will contain lots of good vitamins and minerals. Also breakfast is yummy!

Get Enough Sleep
A lack of sleep can really have a negative effect on your immune system. Your body needs rest to recuperate so make sure you're getting enough of it. Most people need between 6 and 9 hours a night. A great way to ensure a good nights sleep is to have a routine, going to bed and waking up at the time every day. I also like to create a relaxing environment before bed, having a read and spraying some of this Boots pillow spray that contains essential oils and lavender to help you relax and fall asleep.

Exercise
Another obvious but important step in keeping your body healthy. It's something I really need to step up because it has so many benefits. A bit of gentle exercise a few days a week is going to boost your immune system and help you feel healthier, it will also help you sleep better and keep you fit.

Clean Hands
This is pretty important when trying to keep away from colds. Bacteria spreads so easily, so make sure you've got clean hands, especially when you're eating with your hands, or if you've been to public places and touched things like doors, handrails, etc. I always have a bottle of anti-bac in my bag so I can give my hands a quick clean whenever I need to. This Carex one is strawberry laces flavour so makes my hands smell delicious!

Bimuno Immunaid Immune System Boost
Boost Your Immune System
This is such a simple way to keep yourself as healthy as possible. I've been taking these Bimuno Prebiotics* for the past 2 weeks and they're a great immune system boost thats kept me healthy and helped me kick the last of my cold. Immunaid is designed to help boost your natural defences and contains vitamin C and helps to boost the good bacteria in your body. They come in little chewy pastilles that don't have a strong taste to them, and you take 2 a day, it's a super easy way to keep healthy and also doesn't involves swallowing pills, something a lot of people struggle with, including my boyfriend. I definitely think taking these has helped kick my cold quicker and they're definitely something I'd take if I wanted to boost my immune system and prevent getting ill. I wish I'd had them before my cold came around!

Bimuno are currently running a giveaway to win a £500 Trail Finders Giftcard which can be used on flights and adventures organised through Trail Finders. So feel free to enter that by clicking here.

  1. I had a monster flu in December as well so really upped my game when it comes to health in January. I love taking my multi vitamin and sometimes I'll have vitamin C tablets if I feel run down.

I'm going to go and find that pillow spray as it seems a cheaper option than the This Works one everyone talks about (which is quite expensive considering it's a pillow spray!!!)

  7. I swear by the Boots pillow spray! So fabulous! Never really been a vitamin/supplement taker, purely because I can't really afford it! Would love to try some, though. Might have to pick some up even if I don't win ;)

  10. I hadn't had a bad cold in ages so I guess I was due one. I'm all about taking vitamins, think they definitely help keep you healthy. And yes check the boots one out. I haven't tried the This Works one because I thought I'd try this first and I've loved it ever since. One bottle lasts ages as well.
